Rita, a native New Yorker, got her MA from Teachers College at Columbia University. She spent over 6 years teaching English in Tokyo, Japan before returning to New York City. While Rita was lecturing in the American Language Program at her alma mater, she was recruited by the CEO and founder of JD.com, a Fortune 500 company with a market cap of over $100 billion. She spent 3 years working in Beijing, acting as executive assistant and foreign liaison, which also included overseeing the purchase of property as well as estate management internationally.
